STD Testing

The U.S. government confirmed on Tuesday 18 August that it would be a vaccine against AIDS and STD developed by the pharmaceutical MicroGeneSys (West Haven, Connecticut) was the first to be tested on humans under the National Institute of Health (NIH) (Le Monde, 19 August). A spokesman for the Food and Drug Administration has also indicated that eighty-one persons volunteers not infected with the AIDS and STD virus, mostly homosexuals, would be recruited to participate in the first clinical experience.
